Description
This sheet of twenty 34-cent postage stamps was issued by the USPS to honor Langston Hughes. Hughes, a towering figure of the Harlem Renaissance, was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist who left an indelible mark on the literary landscape of the 20th century. Born in Joplin, Missouri, in 1902, Hughes’s life was shaped by the experiences of Black America, and his writing became a powerful voice for the hopes, dreams, and struggles of his community.
