Description
These four Vatican City postage stamps were issued on April 22, 1964, to commemorate the participation of the Vatican at the New York World’s Fair. Famously, the Vatican allowed the Fair to display Michelangelo’s Pieta, which was a highlight for many visitors. Details of that statue are depicted on the 50 lire and 250 lire stamps. The other two stamps in the set depict Pope Paul VI.
