Description
This collectible set of two postage stamps was issued by Ireland to honor Wolfe Tone. Theobald Wolfe Tone (1763-1798) was an Irish revolutionary and one of the founding members of the United Irishmen, a republican society that sought to end British rule in Ireland and establish an independent republic. Tone was a charismatic and persuasive figure who played a key role in mobilizing support for the United Irishmen and organizing their rebellion against British rule.
