Description
This set of two postage stamps were issued for use in postwar West Berlin, Germany. The stamps depict hands breaking a chain and the Brandenburg Gate with "17 JUNI 1953" in large letters, commemorating a popular uprising and workers strike that took place in Soviet-controlled East Berlin on that date. The stamps were valid for use until December 31, 1955.
