Description
These 3-cent National Capital Sesquicentennial stamps were issued to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of National Capital of Washington, DC. This stamp depicts the Statue of Freedom, which is located on the dome of the U.S. Capitol Building. The bronze statue, designed by Thomas Crawford, depicts a female figure wearing a military helmet, holding a sheathed sword and laurel wreath.
