Description
This collectible plate block of four 7-cent air mail postage stamps was issued by the US Post Office to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first transport of airmail in the United States on the hot-air balloon Jupiter. The balloon was flown from Lafayette to Crawfordsville, Indiana, on August 17, 1859.
